Trust me I looked.
Actually recently I have been looking at other cms's and portals, just a hobby really.
I tried both joomla and mambo and they are only a little different kind of like the difference between ocportal 3.1.0 and the newest version or some thing like that.
I actually found those harder to use but was able to get them to do what I do with ocPortal except with out the ipb integration. Infact with joomla that bridge between joomla and ipb cost. Do to the new lisance on joomla a add on either have to be GPL or commercial. This did cause a lot of issues with a few users of joomla specially those using smf as the bridge between smf was discontinued as it could not be  made commercial or GPL.  How ever a new  bridge was made by another company but it costs. Mambo in the other had has a free smf bridge but there is no bridge for IPB. And honestly neither of these are that easy to use and are not as versicle as ocportal well some may say they are but I for one found it a pain to get it to do what I wanted. I am not sure of how the future of these 2 products is going to pan out do to a few things I have seen mainly the GPL thing.

Any way another one I tried was bitweaver, this has some nice themes and basically all the same features as ocportal but one thing I found is its a memory hog even with very view features enabled.

Another one I tried was yacs and omgness I could not even figure out how to use this after it was installed.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Some time ago I was hunting for yet ANOTHER security fix in a phpNuke forum, when a guy mentioned something along the lines of, "… instead of spending so much time trying to patch the holes, why don't you take a look at ocPortal (with a link)?"

I'd never heard of it, but I did, and I've not bothered to look any further, as you well know from my previous comments in this forum.

I'm not saying it is the 'easiest', nor am I saying it is "the best thing since sliced bread" (actually, I don't LIKE sliced bread), but I am saying that it is worth persevering with this CMS, regardless of the 'slip-ups' one makes along the way.

And as long as we in this forum take it for granted that our glitches will be fixed ASAP by the staff (we shouldn't, but we do!), then there can't be a better 'experience' around.

That's my 2-cents worth!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I tried php nuke well a modded version called pc nuke but its the same thing just with lots of preinstalled mods Pc nuke had all kinds of features and was easy to use but my memembers hated it.

I remember that was before I used Mkportal which was before ocportal.
I used Mkportal for a long time but got a few complaints from members about it and I stopped using it after finding ocportal to be better and some of the support staff, many of which I was actually getting support from at mkportal left. I remember one guy on mkportal who is no longer there that I got the most support from but he is now working on the smf arcade which he was doing before but now thats all he does as far as I know.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.
