I am a newbie to ocportal, i just installed it to my webhost and wanted to try it out. But the only thing is, in the newest stable version 8.1.2 I cant seem to find any registration/join option. only log in. I looked everywhere as I know, but can't find anything about it. Do any one know where to find this option and if it needs to be enabled or something? Regards Sara |

Right side of startpage: ![]() When clicked on more: ![]() when clicked on the login button without anything written in the boxes: ![]() I can see any option for register. Not on the left side bar either, nor on the other pages. Is there supposed to be a link to register somewhere on the screenshots that i provided? |

Check under AdminZone - Setup-Configuration- Site Options that Closed Site is not checkmarked. |

For example, on the login screen the LOGIN_TEXT language string contains: Code
Login using your username and password. If you haven't joined yet, you can {1}.
Very strange indeed
Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

I did check all the settings options in ocportal, and the site was open, not closed. And there were no settings which the registration option would have been set off. So indeed, it is a very strange situation. I thought at first that it might have had something to do with that i upgraded it, but i checked when i reinstalled it before, to the version before the newest one, and it didn't have the join option either. one thing i did notice tho was, when i got the admin login page when i first installed it, there was a registration option there, but when i clicked it i just came to the start page. And then that administration page could not be found after that. I mean the same one. You could only get to the normal log in page. I'm guessing some parts just didn't install correctly to my webbhosting account. If anyone gets the same problem in the future, I'll add that I have bluehost as my webbhost. |

Most people here aren't aware of it as a choice, but it allows a memberless site. As for the other errors - probably bugs in this (rarely used) forum driver – I'll take a look soon. If I answered something that you think should be in the documentation, please take the initiative and add it to the community documentation. So I think what I said about the "No forum or members" choice being selected at installation is probably true. However, another possibility is if you didn't install via an official installer, but some third party installer provided by a web host. Sometimes hosts create their own accelerated installers and perhaps they installed it with that "No forum or members" option 'for you'. The error message was related to upgrade. It is a small bug – we dropped a default banner in v8 that existed in v7. When you upgraded, then ran the Setup Wizard, it saw the banner and tried to let you configure it, but ocPortal is missing the details to do that and only recognised it via a remnant of old code we forgot to remove. You should be able to ignore those errors though, it is only in the Setup Wizard and not fatal. So I would recommend installing v8 from scratch and make sure you install with the 'OCF' forum driver. Thanks for the replies! I see, so that must be the issue then. I installed it trough simple scripts from bluehost. There, the only options for installation is: which version you want to install, where you want to install it, and what your admin name should be and password. Nothing else is available with the install process unfortunately. I will check it one more time to make sure i have not missed anything. If I want to tell them about this option, and that I should have the choice to set it on or off, do you think i should contact bluehost or simple scripts? I guess I'll try my host first and see what they'll say about. Thank you for your help! its greatly appreciated. I might give ocportal another shot now! |

Bluehost told me simple scripts only provide the default settings, in which, none of the additional settings or modules are provided. Now comes my next question for you, is it an additional feature, the no members or forum option? Maybe the codes for oc portal could be edited so that its a part of the "default" settings to have regeristration on, and then from within the cms change it if you want it off? just a thought have anyone else downloaded oc portal from simple scripts and had the same issue i wonder? |

Maybe you can work up a solution together. :) Please, post what you learned from simple scripts when you've got a reply from them. Have a great day! |

I have been busy so I haven't been able to post anything here or look into ocportal. But i recently saw this option in oc portal under configurations that says "installations options editor" and the forum is set to "none" in there. I suppose that this is the issue that you were saying? What should it be set to so I can put it right? |
