Does my site seem slow to you?

I just recently uploaded my site to a new hosting service and it seems very slow to me (though I don't really remember how fast it was at the previous host who just disappeared causing me this headache).

What do you all think?

Welcome back! I'm glad to see you are still around.

It does appear there is some delay in getting a response from the server (https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=julianrittercentral.com). I would probably be leaning toward the mySQL server being the bottleneck or maybe an overloaded shared web server, but I'm not exactly an expert on database and web server performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Fan in action

Not the fastest site, also nowhere near the slowest. Comparable, perhaps better than our live site www.familylawwebguide.com.au

Pinged you and got 223 ms as average.

Been a little bit nosey. Right clicked and then selected inspect element firebug (firefox addon, but browsers tend to have built in developer tools). Selected console ALL, clicked on a link in the website(I think portraits) (tools come up on top so you may have to adjust)

The Get (send/get data) for portraits.htm was clearly the biggest time user 5.65s.
tried again this time going to home page and start.htm clocked 8.3s.

It looks like you've got google analytics. I think that can also give you performance type info.

Regards, Mike.

Thanks for the input.

I think I got this sorted. I was having memory limit errors on some of the gallery pages so I cleared a number of the caches. That fixed the problems I was having and also seems to have sped up the site.

I still have a couple of smaller issues to iron out but I think I'm on my way again- so much aggravation because my old hosting service just disappeared. Heck, I think the site was down for a couple of months before I found out about it because someone told my dad that his site had gone missing.
