Hi Jan,

I can understand why you wouldn't want children signing up for your adult website, they would surely rate your articles on mortgage and parental advice quite low. If they want articles about Disney Channel shows, they should visit your child website.

Just kidding .

We have this addon that puts people under 18 in a special usergroup. You could then control permissions against that usergroup.
Under18s -

It is not an official solution, it's an example code intended for developers. It's hard-coded to put under 18s in usergroup #10. I think that's the ID of the first custom usergroup added to the site.

It could be customised by someone with basic PHP knowledge by editing sources_custom/hooks/systems/ocf_implicit_usergroups/under18s.php

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Community saint

It would be nice if this was a group which existed in ocPortal by default, to mark certain forums or content as inaccessable to this group and it would also be useful for nsfw content or topics.
