Well cutting to the chase before the tale of woe...

I have some articles that I would like to display as one a day link on the left menu a bit like quote or message of the day. How to do it?

Tale of woe...

Well I thought I had cracked it by using the inbuilt random feature but it selects any page from the selected zone and thats no good I want it to just use say 10 that I won`t link to in any other obvious way.

I thought I could get round it by creating two zones (linkzone and articlezone) and have the side panel just select a random small page with one link to an article in articlezone. However that did not work and I don`t know why bar the obvious you are a muppet answer.

I nearly had what I wanted by using authors but realised I was storing trouble up for myself and gave up on that.

It must be possible some how but I am not good enogth and did not really understand the ID element either so I am beaten and need a wiser head than mine to show me the way.

So to recap I would like to have a small panel on the left menu Titled Article of the Day (I have managed this) with a small link that changes daily(!). That would then be clicked on that would take you to a page with the main article text. I would then have a 10-100 articles that would keep the front page looking fresh.

Help oh wise ones!

I'm not sure you can do it as one a day but you can use the Random content block to display a different type of content from a section using the Content display (main_content) block

If you are wanting it to show from a specific list you could maybe create a new category and add all the articles to that category and only display from that group. This will be each time the page is refreshed however.

Otherwise it will need some coding to achieve i think
