Writing an Agreement

I feel weird asking for this, but I've recently made a deal to buy-out someone's personal domain. Sadly, I've never purchased domains from people, so this is where you come in, if you'd like.

First of all, do people normally write some kind of agreement when purchasing domains?

Well I am not sure but I know one of my friends who bought some one else's domain but he waited until it expired and ended up buying it after that.

I run and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

I purchased a domain from somebody a few years ago, and I had to simply trust the person that they would indeed accept my transfer request to a new registrar after I had sent them the payment.

However, most countries' laws state that a contract is created between you and the seller if it is a verbal, written, or even suggested.

If you have concerns, I suggest using an Escrow-esque service to hold the payment until you are in control of the domain.
