As I sit here typing a troubleshooting manual for our customers, I find myself cutting and pasting more and more from the knowledgebase catalogue we have on our OCP4 driven support site. It suddenly occurred to me (yes, I'm a little slow at times ;) ) that having the ability to print and/or display a catalogue in it's entirety would be beneficial in this instance, but potentially beneficial for other catalogue types.

Chris, from where you sit, would this type of functionality be something that a hack like me could attempt to implement, or would there be far too much to modify in the OCP core to make this realistic as an addon or block?

I have not used it but isn't there a print friendly block?

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

I haven't looked at that block either Ami, but my guess is it's printer friendly for the content in the block. I'm thinking along the lines of an entire catalogue with table of contents being generated from a field in the catalogue. I'll take a peak at it however.

Ok let me know if that block works for you.
If it does not work hopefully Chris has an idea.

Hi,

No core changes would be needed, but a new module would need to be written. It's have to read the database and use the catalogue functions to read in all the data then output it.
I'd say it was quite advanced coding.

So the print friendly block does not do that?
What is that for then?

The printer friendly block makes the screen you're viewing printer friendly. i.e. It's for printing what you see in front of you. It doesn't pull out a different/greater set of content.
