I wish to extend the time limit of how long news stays open on the front page.
It appears that after 7 days, the news item closes down to a tab.
I have looked around for a setting to change, but dont seem to find one anywhere.
I wish to change the time frame to more than 14 days.

Hi

You can set the Param number to a higher number to increase the number of days. you can also change the multiplier number. Usually its set at 0.5 which means the first half of your posts within the date range which is set under Param will show as summaries and the rest will close down to Tabs. If you set this to 1 they should all show as summaries within the date range you set

If you set the Param number to 0 it will always  use the fall back numbers. For example I always have the site set to show the latest 2 news items as snippets and 8 as the tab/archive style.

I find the second option easier to keep the site looking the same in regards to lining things up.

If you edit the block using the block wizard it is the first configuration option. Once you click edit the page if you have WYSIWYG enabled you can just click on the block If you don't have the WYSIWYG enabled add this into the code for the block param="0"

The 0 is the number of days it should use news from. A zero will make it use the fall back options. I have mine set something like:
fallback_full="2" fallback_archive="8"

This shows 2 full snippets and 8 of the tabs.

Hi Steven
Tried to follow what you have said, and had a look around, But I am not seeing anything familiar with what you have written.

Any scope to provide screen shots with the appropiate buttons to click on, to get me to the said code?

Go to the bottom of the page and there is an edit the page link if you are logged in. Once you click that you should get to a page that looks something like this:

If you edit the block in this way it will take you to a screen that looks like this:

Thanks Steven

Followed your advice, added a new news_block with parameters. It also explained how to use the parameters for the effect I was looking for. I now know how it all works(still learning).

Happy with the result.
You have been helpfull.
