Limit member access to files

Greetings,
I am new to coPortal, but very impressed so far. I have been reviewing documentation and plugins, but have a quick question.
Is there a setting or plugin that allows the admin to set file permissions in the file library?
I will need an area where members can log in and download only the files they are approved to view. Only admin will be uploading files (Client report distribution area).

Thanks in advance.

Well-settled

Make sure you're looking at 'Downloads', rather than 'File/Media Library'. The former is a fully content-managed download distribution system, with permissions – the later is designed for more casual file sharing, or storing media files for use in other content.

Downloads lets you specify what usergroups can access what categories.

Thank you Duder911.
Any way to limit a file category to a particular user rather than usergroup?
Thanks

ocPortal doesn't officially support per-user permissions, for a variety of reasons. It exists in the API, but not in the admin interface.

Do you really need to target users rather than groups? Bear in mind ocPortal allows you to put users into multiple groups, so you can define permission concepts in that way, and it tends to be neater and simpler all around.

What I need to do is deliver completed reports to my clients without making them available to others.
Would I be able to achieve this by making each of my clients a unique user group?

Thanks again for your assistance.

I experimented with the User Group access and it seems to work pretty well.

As long as there is not a downside that I am not realizing, this should work.

Thanks for your assistance Duder911!
