I am not receiving notifications at all from ocPortal, I have tweaked my settings and it does not seem to make any difference at all

My problem corrected itself. Either ocPortal.com was not sending the notifications (unlikely since there were no other reports) or something was hanging them up on my end. All the sudden, I got a slew of notifications and they seem to be working fine for me now.

My experience:

I have been using AOL as my email client since AOL exist. ocPortal notifications worked as intended until version 7 when none ever reached me again, including with version 8. Immediately after switching to gmail everything was back to normal.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I also use Aol as an email client, but the UK Aol is operated by a company called TalkTalk so I would not of thought that would of had anything to do with it.

I will try a different email address

Thanks Mark
