 I'm making a design for a site and I need some people shadow things (apparently they're called Silhouettes).

It's for a zombie gaming website. They don't have to be zombies, but at least people that are just standing there. I've done some Googling and most I found were of people dancing and stuff. I need something much like what was used in the old ocPortal logos.

Something like this would be perfect…

Xmas spirit.
Looks like a word starting with the the first letter of you name has been added before it.
Nice thought, I like it  :)

Just be happy your name is Joe and not Franck…  :P

I like yours, Robbie. Mine keeps reminding me of Angelis from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" :P

I have embarrassingly low level of knowledge of Buffy... I think I saw a singing episode once and that was enough to scar me for life!

Well-settled

I kind of like mine :-) Looks like Mr Graham has a bit to much time on his hand, maybe we should bomb him with questions?

I think even Chris has time to relax over Christmas… even if his 'relaxing' is ocPortal-related. ;)

Do a search on the big stock photo websites (like iStockphoto.com) - I've seen lots.

If in doubt, Google it: silhouettes stock free - Google Image Search

I like my name and when I saw them I thought Chris spent hours changing every ones name but I see he must have created some kind of script to do it and I would love to know how he did it.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

It's a new-style override for OCF (4.1+). New-style overrides are kind of weird but work really well. The init function of the override file passes the code of the original file through a filter, making changes. i.e. the code in the override rewrites the original code to do something slightly different.

Specifically the code changes the ocPortal's get_username function in the OCF forum driver. The new code amends the usernames according to a pattern before returning it.

sources_custom/forum/ocf.php.

Code

function init__forum__ocf($in)
{
        // init code from the original ocf.php file (this is copy&pasted)
        global $LDAP_CONNECTION;
        $LDAP_CONNECTION=NULL;
        global $EMOTICON_LEVELS;
        $EMOTICON_LEVELS=NULL;
        global $FLOOD_CONTROL_ONCE;
        $FLOOD_CONTROL_ONCE=false;
        global $SENT_OUT_VALIDATE_NOTICE;
        $SENT_OUT_VALIDATE_NOTICE=false;
   global $LAST_POST_ID,$LAST_TOPIC_ID;
   $LAST_POST_ID=NULL;
   $LAST_TOPIC_ID=NULL;
   global $TOPIC_NAMES_TO_IDS,$FORUM_NAMES_TO_IDS;
   $TOPIC_NAMES_TO_IDS=array();
   $FORUM_NAMES_TO_IDS=array();

        // Change a specific line of code in the original file
        return str_replace("return \$this->get_member_row_field(\$member,'m_username');","return xmas_filter(\$this->get_member_row_field(\$member,'m_username'));",$in);
}

// Our new line of code references this function, which does most of the work
function xmas_filter($in)
{
        $alphabetic=array(
                'Angelic',
                'Baubles',
                'Christmas',
                'Dasher',
                'Evergreen',
                'Festive',
                'Gifted',
                'Holiday',
                'Icicles',
                'Jolly',
                'Kingly',
                'Enlightened',
                'Merry',
                'Noel',
                'Ornamental',
                'Party',
                'Kingly',
                'Rudolph',
                'Seasonal',
                'Tinsel',
                'Yuletide',
                'Visionary',
                'Wiseman',
                'Xmas',
                'Yuletide',
                'Xmas',
                );

        if (strtoupper($in{0})!=strtolower($in{0})) // Only letters will pass this test
        {
                return $alphabetic[ord(strtoupper($in{0}))-ord('A')].' '.$in;
        }
        return $in;
}

This was a clever addition to last year's 'Festive Season'. I'd like to use it this year, but I am a bit doubtful as a 'diff-check' showed masses of differences between this and the 5.1.0 file.

Can it be used 'as-is', or does it/can it be updated?

Thanks.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Thanks.

I'll give it a bit of a run and report back if there is something 'major' to note.
