I like cpanel but they have that annoying flash thing at the top of their site that I can not get to stop or not load at all.
If it was an image I could just use the firefox tool and block the annoying thing but its flash.

I run Otaku Play Ground and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Found a firefox add on that took care of the problem.
I do not care for flash on a home page though.

I don't really care for cPanel. I prefer vDeck for some reason. I hear Plesk beats everything, but I've never used Plesk before.

I do not like vdeck at all I left a host do to having that.
Main reason I did not like it was I had to email the host every time I wanted to add a domain or even change a domain.

plesk is what we use where I work its not to much different then cpanel.

Yes, with one of my shared webhosts we had to contact Live Support for changes having to do with domains. Maybe we have the same webhost? :P

Wow - That's one of my webhosts. I was told they were receiving unknown problems with vDeck, which is why they make you contact them if you need changes made regarding your domain (adding subdomains, etc..).

I firstly used cPanel when I broke out into the world of websites, and now I use Plesk. I much prefer Plesk. :)

Speaking of Dot5, due to their recent SQL Server crash which deleted all the databases, I have requested at least 3 months of free hosting. Does anyone think that's too extreme? If you think about it, it's actually a good deal seeing as they're at fault for not making daily backups like they're supposed to. :O

From what I have learned it is not always good to rely on the back ups made by the host.
I learned that from when I had 1and1.
At one time with 1and1 my databases were all lost how ever at the time they did not even have a way to back up the database, not sure if they do now but I did not ask for a refund or months free, I just started over.
How ever know I keep monthly, daily, and weekly back ups.

We've seen poor service from web hosts time and time again. It's the norm, not the exception, and the reason is that hosting prices are so low (due to price/stat-based competition being so fierce), that you really do only get a bear minimum level of service. I've personally been responsible for cleaning up the mess when web-hosting has gone bad more than a few times.
Always always take your own backups :).

All that said, you wouldn't believe the low levels of service I've seen from enterprise web hosts where you pay something like £20,000 per year for their services.

I so agree With Chris which is why I make monthly, weekly, and daily back ups. I learned my lesson.
The host I have though is top nutch and I only pay 4.95 a month but they are always there when I need help or have a problem.
