Just noticed this on the ocPortal site.

Do likes/dislikes count as ratings for the purpose of points?

No, they should appear as individual entries in your "in addition" list below that table.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

The table below shows only the recipients of the like.

I was guessing that the Ratings line is for making the effort to rate (and possibly like/dislike) content in much the same way that CEDI or forum posts contributions are counted.

I see what you mean now, good questions.

Are CEDI points supposed to be given for just new entries or also updating existing ones. I'm assuming it just creating new ones as I didn't receive any when I updated the mod_security CEDI.

Points for doing ratings. I'll make that clearer. There's a config option behind scoring that.

CEDI points only for adds yes, would be difficult to quantify edit awardance.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

That's what I thought and what I expected.

Shouldn't liking/disliking something count as a rating? The person is still offering their opinion on a post.

Like/dislike is rating as fat as ocPortal is concerned.

So, on the ocPortal site, why are no points accumulating for ratings? It says that ratings are supposed to get 5 points per.

Ah, yes that's a bug. I'll fix for the next release (fixed it just now, but can't be bothered to upload it here). It's not a retroactive fix.

Was this fixed in 8.1? Has the ocPortal site been updated (it appears not).

And on a sidenote, the ocPortal site's copyright date is still 2011.

Was fixed, not sure which release.

Not updated the code here in a while though – it tends to get done inconsistently, when there's something I find going wrong specifically here I'll often test a fix direct, then commit that to git - but the actual site doesn't get consistently upgraded as a result.

Fixed copyright date thanks.
