Greetings Rodzan!

To correctly display a SWF file in a browser, it requires an  HTML OBJECT tag .  You can place this tag in the HEADER.tpl . The OBJECT tag also specifies the location of the actual Adobe Flash SWF file, and then directs the browser to load Adobe Flash Player and use it to play your SWF file.

To have an idea on how it can be done, refer to my tutorial: A Gaming Community Theme (Part 2)

If Using the latest ocPortal version 8.1, you will need to remove the following line of code from the HEADER.tpl:

Code

<h1><a class="logo_outer" target="_self" href="{$PAGE_LINK*,:}" rel="home"><img class="logo" src="{$?,{$MOBILE},{$IMG*,logo/trimmed-logo},{LOGOURL*}}" width="{$IMG_WIDTH*,{$?,{$MOBILE},{$IMG,logo/trimmed-logo},{LOGOURL}}}" height="{$IMG_HEIGHT*,{$?,{$MOBILE},{$IMG,logo/trimmed-logo},{LOGOURL}}}" title="{!FRONT_PAGE}" alt="{$SITE_NAME*}" /></a></h1>

Reading the tutorial might give you some insight into the process.

Hoping it can help,

Jean

I was going to refer Rodzan to your tute, but then I got wrapped up in the 'selective display' thingie, but I knew yoou would step in.

The extra 8.1 info is also good for others that want to go this route.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Thanks Fletch!

I'm always amazed to see how ocPortal's newer versions don't break the themeing techniques from the past, it just enhances them!:)

Thanks Rodzan!

Unfortunately Adobe Flash is falling out of grace at the moment. There are those who think that HTML 5 and java-script are a good substitute. So far, it has not been very impressive, and I'm being polite.;)

You did a great job putting your ocPortal site together, even adding Facebook loggin.

Love the song and the voice. Don't know the language, but it is very soothing to hear.

Well done!

Visited site. Brought back memories. Spent 3 years in Singapore (70-73) and 'escaped' to Malaysia every opportunity there was a long break from work. Kuala Lumpur was OK for the tourist, but my favourite was escaping to Kuantan's Government Rest House and gorgeous sandy beaches. Bliss!

Comment about site: Have another look at the placement of the 'vc_widget'. Currently it is not sitting 'right' on the page, and it is also hiding the player (sound) controls.

HTML5 and JS are not there yet in terms  of replacing Flash but now that Adobe has seen the inevitability of this sea change, I expect the tools and capabilities to improve substantially.

Personally, I hate Flash as it is a real resource hog on a Mac due to Adobe not properly optimizing the code. And then there are the constant security issues. I'll be happy to see a proper replacement in its place.

Rodzan, IF I get the wandering bug again, and IF I visit your beautiful country again, you will be the FIRST person I will contact.

That is a promise, and thank you for your magnanimous offer.
