Upgraded to Windows 8.1 when invited to. It wasn't without its 'trials and tribulations', but that's another story, although it is apparent that M$ shot themselves in the foot …!!

Took the latest IE11 for a spin to see if everything they claim is as it should be. I haven't been that disappointed so far. It looks like they are living up to user demands and making up good ground on other browsers. Since it appears to have been aimed specifically at tablets and hand-held devices I am at a loss to comment on those since I have only run it on a desktop, but things are looking good so far.

I encountered one problem that others might inadvertently trip over, so here's the skinny on what happened and what I needed to do …
  • fired up IE11
  • logged in to my site(s) as this was the first time out for it
  • tried logging in to ocPortal Forum. No luck!
  • tried EVERYTHING (including scratching head and swearing loudly)
  • wondered whether this could have been an ocPortal-related gotcha, but didn't rush here to report it
  • took another look at SECURITY, specifically the 'trusted sites' list
  • sure enough, ocPortal was populated in the list, HOWEVER
  • the entry for ocPortal, automatically inserted there by IE, was http://*.ocportal.com which didn't immediately cause concern as I assumed a wildcard had been inserted by the browser
  • removed that entry and added 'ocportal.com'
  • success

So, before you come in here screaming at the developers about the incompatibility of ocPortal with IE11, please check your security settings.

 :o

Take my advice. I'm not using it!
