Thanks all for the kind wishes.

I was reminiscing yesterday that I remember thinking my parents (who were in their late 30s at the time) were old when I was 16. Now looking at 60 in just one year and blessed with good health, I really don't feel old and think I'll be around to at least another 25 years. I have determined I am just late middle-aged. ;)

And I got another nice birthday gift – Apple stock is down 16 points which means I can pick up a few more shares.

Thanks, Gerald.

I guess conventional wisdom is that the best thing about one's 59th birthday is that it is not their 60th. But the truth is that I still feel like I'm in my thirties (although with many more stories to tell).

I celebrated on Saturday evening with friends and family - a nice get-together at a Brazilian steakhouse where you end up eating more meat in one day than you would typically in a week. But it was great fun and I am just enjoying the today for what it is - the remembrance and celebration of my birth.

Refreshing viewpoint Bob (more so since it gels with my own), and certainly different to the MeMeMe cries of distress you often get from the less mature crowd!

Funny, I'm in my 20's and feel in my 40's ;).

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

That's because you don't get enough sleep and then we abuse you here. Heck, v8 is not yet official and I already am trying to drum up support for its successor's features.

Thanks, Brian.

Everyone should just remember that that is supposed to be "wise old man". There is no substitute for living life's experiences to become wiser. I'm sure Fletch and a few others here would agree.  :)
