Hello,

I would like to make a port for ocportal, so people can issue a:
cd /usr/ports/www/ocportal ; make install clean and it installs a working system. If possible if im allowed to work with developers to get this going. IF not then I appologise for the waste of a topic :)

Hi,

I'm certainly happy for you to do this, although I don't know anything about this particular system.
You might find this useful:
ocPortal.com - Download: ocPortal product-integration archive

It contains an install.sql, and info.php.template file, that can relatively easily be tied into some kind of script to automate installation. This is what we've used with Installatron, Interworx, Plesk, Ensim and Bitnami.

We keep the archive reasonably up-to-date as ocPortal changes.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

FreeBSD port proposal for ocportal

It's a little different than most packaging system on a Linux OS, I myself would like to have it in the ports system as it's easier to install in my opinion.

You view some ports I've done here:
FreshPorts -- Search
and you can view the sources by clicking on the CVSWeb.

The port includes a Makefile that downloads, installs, installs deps, really installs. Then it's the user to finish the install. Due to the nature of the script it will take a while for it to be done. But it would be nice to include it.

I will look into the integration tools and see what things I can get out of it. I obviously use ocportal or else I wouldn't spend the time ruining my server to port it :)

I see a lot of potential for ocportal that I don't see in other CMS's which tend to lower my motivation to port.

Due to the fact that the download links are not easy to use with Unix type utils, this includes fetch which is used to fetch tar files. I am unable to make a port for FreeBSD without adding the tar to my own distfile site which takes up my own bandwidth :P

[chris@pcbsd]% fetch http://ocportal.com/site/dload.php?id=93&filtered=1&filtered=1
[1] 78395
fetch: No match.
[2] 78396
keep_session=436500: Command not found.
for_session=d5c89769fff603e0f6dd1ef0311382be: Command not found.
[2]  - Exit 1                        keep_session=436500
[1]  + Exit 1                        fetch http://ocportal.com/site/dload.php?id=93
[chris@pcbsd]% fetch http://ocportal.com/site/dload.php?id=93&filtered=1 &for_session=d5c89769fff603e0f6dd1ef0311382be
[chris@pcbsd]% ls
[chris@pcbsd]%

Since the CMS is easier to install than most, then this wont be a complete loss.

been playing with fetch using various tweaks and it wont download it.

Hi,

Does wget get work, or is it not necessarily going to be available?

wget will work, but the ports system does not use wget, it uses it's own fetch program.

Hi again,

I've put a simple redirection up on our server…
http://ocportal.com/integration_tar.tar.gz

Maybe using that will help.

Think this will cause problems in the long run, as the actual program will need to be linked directly and updated with each release.

It's a redirect to the same URL you were trying – the one served by dload.php, pointing to the tar we regularly update :).

I don't quite understand. Do you need me to set up another redirect for another file? If so, just let me know which. However, I don't think another file would be needed as the tar one contains everything (we use this file for Installatron install).

I thought this was just to set it up and the main one located at the download link is the one with the ocportal php files?

download link being:
https://ocportal.com/site/dload.php?id=258
and the setup files being:
http://ocportal.com/integration_tar.tar.gz

The integration tar is the complete thing, just packaged in a different way.

CEDI page: Todo - Bsdjunk.com

This is my Todo, ports will not necessarily be done in that order.
currently I am in the process of updating kvirc-devel, once that is complete I will make a port for ocportal.
