Honoured member

I was thinking for my forum I could have a different colored randomized header. Only problem is that there are a total of 4 header images that have been split, so the forum header consists of 4 images total that make one big header image. Does anyone have an idea how I could make this possible? Maybe someone knows of some sort of script I could use?

I thought about using IFRAMES and somehow tying that into ocPortal's banner rotation system, but then again I have the problem that there are 4 images instead of 1. So unless there is a banner rotation system out there that actually let's you add images to the system under different groups and then reference each group in the forum header, I'd need something other than a banner rotation script.

Not really something I wanted done yesterday. It was just a cool thought that I figured would be nice to have. It'd be easier if the forum header only consisted of one big image so then I could just use ocPortal's banner system, but the theme maker split it into multiple images and the entire CSS is scripted to support these multiple images (so it would be a bit complicated to convert the header to only use one image). Like I said, just a thought…

Are you talking about banners like advertisements, or banners like a big header with your site logo? Or both? ;)

If you put in the URL to an HTML page instead of an image for the banner, and leave the site URL blank, then the HTML page will be embedded as an iframe automatically.
Therefore you can put all your HTML/CSS for the multiple images in such an HTML page.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
