This browser really eats up a lot of CPU resources.

Is anyone else noticing that Firefox really eats up a lot of CPU resources? Sometime it uses 99% for long stretches at a time (like right now) without letting up for more than a micro second while IE doesnt seem to be such a CPU hog. If anyone else has had this problem do you know a way to get FF back in its cage?

Perhaps I was accusing the wrong culprit. I removed the PULSE tag from one or more locations and the CPU usage dropped dramatically. Still a moderate spike when loading the page but the curve drops quickly to a tame level. Perhaps the PULSE tag is the one to cage.

Don't know what the PULSE tag is, friendly, but I am currently not having any problems with FireFox.

I UNINSTALLED IT

It probably won't be for long, because I miss the use of 'Firebug', but when I tried to get a vid (screen capture) for Chris&Co, it gave me so many errors that I threw my hands up in horror and disgust!

Did an SFC (yeah! I'm a Windoze user) but found nothing, so it must have been something to do with the FF installation. I've used 'Revo' to do a complete uninstall and then zapped the registry with 'jv16'. Now it is a matter of re-installing FF and hoping that whatever was causing the hassle has been removed - including the remnants of a possible outdated java engine that Chris warned about some time ago …

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Thanks for the 'pulsing' explanation. Seen it on your site and thought it was some sort of animated GIF. Now I know better!

P.S. My post is now pulsing. I wonder if ANYBODY (with the exception of the team) ever gets to find out about ALL the features built into this software!?!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Just for the record, pulse could be made more efficient by raising the parameter that controls the speed (which'll make it animate slower). But yeah Firefox is not doing well in the speed wars.

Which means yes? We need a WYSIWYG editor that plays well with others, like webkit and such. That way I can ditch this turtle for chromium/rekonq/arora/etc... lol.
