me I want to use it as a database that people can comment on but not change the content on like a normal wiki.
Chris Asked me to explain why I wanted comments so as to keep that other thread clean as this is going to be long I will make a whole new topic.

Below is a picture of a few things I do not like much about the categories.

How ever that could be fixed by showing just the title of the entry and that title would be the link to the entry and not have the go to button - like the cedi pages.

Below is the entry of the cataloges and as you can see you only can have 1 entry as I want more then one like the cedi.

Here is an entry page on a cedi and how I like it set up.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Hi,

Please try turning off the 'Own pages' option for the catalogue, and tell me what you think. I think that resolves the issues you've brought up here, but correct me if I'm wrong.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Almost forgot The CEDI also supports the WYSIWYG and you can upload an image right into the entry and have it display those image like this.

Now that that Firefox bug is fixed, catalogues will also do, for the translatable/Comcode "block of text" fields.

However, you've just made a good point that I had not noticed - there's no attachment functionality.

Well there is an image upload as a field but because the number of images I need to upload changes it does not work.

But this is why I would like the cedi to have a comments block.

I am going to be doing some testing with it today because I could upload the images first and use html to point to that image. I will see how that looks.

Did I read this wrong because I had to check the box where it says own pages and then it worked.
How ever that does work though.

I have another question are the comcode things going to be added to the editor?
That why if I disable the WYSIWYG I it will look the same as it does on the forum or the rest of ocPortal.
Not that its a bad thing having it different or missing things as I am glad it now has the WYSIWYG, which does help with my problem.
SO any way thanks.

Yes, I appreciate this. The staff will be considering things.

I'm confident that option works correctly, so it is more likely I read what you said wrong.

There are three kinds of Comcode input fields in ocPortal:
  1. Inputting a line of Comcode – this is just a single line input box
  2. Inputting some Comcode text – this is just a multi-line input box, or WYSIWYG
  3. Inputting a 'post' – this is the Comcode editor, or WYSIWYG – AND supports attachments

We wouldn't be putting Comcode buttons into 1 or 2, because that's not what those fields are suitable for.
However, it is possible we might change some fields which are currently 2's to be 3's instead. In other words, we might make some fields support attachments and have Comcode editor buttons.

Ya I think so but no worries I just turned it on instead of off and it worked, so as long as it works. I think you just had it backwords.

← thats what I want and the option is on.

← thats what I do not want and the option is off.

Any way I am happy you helped me and got it to do what I wanted.
