Clarity on adding postage in eCommerse module

Where can I add a postage charge because at checkout there is no postage figure just a item price and I'm sure I set one somewhere. If I needed to charge $12.00 per 500g how would I do it. TIA

Hi,

Hopefully the screenshots I just put in here will show you:

There's a config option, then you define the weight in the product entry, and that's it.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

If I use a base rate it applies to every item added to the cart.

If my minimum post amount is $12.00 for up to 500 grams and $1.00 per item after this weight, is there a way to do this please?

TIA Karl

Sorry we don't support that. A developer could add it quite quickly, as there's a single part of the code that calculates the shipping cost that would need to customised.

Hello TheBeastMaster.

I'm one of the developers at ocProducts.

Shipping is calculated via. a function inside a hook, specifically sources/hooks/systems/ecommerce/catalogue_items.php . Inside this hook is a function called calculate_shipping_cost .

The function however by default does not support the kind of threshold / bracket system that you are asking for. You can customize it yourself and then place it under sources_custom/hooks/systems/ecommerce/catalogue_items.php . Or, you could use your support credits if you would like one of our developers to customize this function for you to incorporate your desired functionality.
