Forms Creation

Would like to create new contact form and forms relating to copyright notice and some forms for members to use.  Is there a "widget" for form creation.  I guess I could go to my form making software and make my form and then copy code into a page - is this the recommended way  ?

PS: Will OCPortal accept HTML5 code

Source: What ocPortal is not
We also consciously avoid certain kinds of feature if they don't fit into the ocPortal design or philosophy. For example, 'form builders' are very popular and common in other software, but we have not implemented them because ocPortal has a different but more flexible alternative - catalogues (for which notification e-mails can be sent and data saved and searched).

Hopefully that answers part of your question and that you can achieve what you want to do using Catalogues.

There is already the option for a Feedback form, though I think you need to have the ocForum installed (not entirely sure on that). This might be useful for the copyright/dmca contact form you wanted.

Thanks,  looked at Catalogue but didn't know you could make form without saving data, looked again found block for that, so probably best choice. Thanks again.

Realize HTML has "issues" that's why was interested in HTML5 - any ideas?

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Chris, it's a little too much for what I need.  Is there a way to edit the simple feedback form block content and wording.  Or conversely a way to build your own form blocks.

Thanks

You can change the language used on the Feedback page by searching for part/all the current wording in the admin zone search box. You should find it under language in the results and can edit it to your preferred wording.

I have never actually built a form but you can create standalone html pages and upload them and provide a link quite easily. Maybe you could do it that way.
