Found that all ocPortal sites I visit using CHROME are being hijacked by a Facebook redirect. Here are two examples of the URL that it is being redirected to:

ocPortal:
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/permissions.request?client_id=303252706408200&response_type=token%2Csigned_request%2Ccode&display=none&domain=ocportal.com&origin=1&redirect_uri=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.ak.facebook.com%2Fconnect%2Fxd_arbiter.php%3Fversion%3D18%23cb%3Df113bf39fc%26origin%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Focportal.com%252Ff268afe10%26domain%3Docportal.com%26relation%3Dparent&sdk=joey

Viewfinder:
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/permissions.request?client_id=152228218231830&response_type=token%2Csigned_request%2Ccode&display=none&domain=alpha.viewfindr.com&origin=1&redirect_uri=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.ak.facebook.com%2Fconnect%2Fxd_arbiter.php%3Fversion%3D18%23cb%3Df3cabd042c%26origin%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Falpha.viewfindr.com%252Ff1721b6454%26domain%3Dalpha.viewfindr.com%26relation%3Dparent&sdk=joey

Strangely enough, my own sites are perfectly accessible, and don't give the same error. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I DO NOT have the Facebook add-on activated on my sites?

I have no idea who 'joey' is, but a quick trawl of the internet suggests it may be a Chrome problem, but that doesn't explain why I can access my own sites using Chrome.

I can confirm that I do not have the same problem with IE10, which I am using at the moment to access these forums.

Anybody got a clue what is going on?

Update:

All appears to be back to normal, again!

I am no longer receiving the 'redirects', and life is calm enough for the wife, me and the dog to go raid the kitchen for a (belated) midnight snack.

It's a routine that the dog refuses to allow us to overlook ….!!

I just made a small code change to try and potentially patch it, but more likely is Facebook had some weird temporary glitch. Worrying :S.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Yes, and there are other 'less complimentary' remarks doing the rounds, too!

I was particularly interested in …
"For a short period of time, there was a bug that redirected people logging in with Facebook from third-party sites to Facebook.com."

and

"Issues like the one today are a reminder for many developers, publishers and companies that integrating with Facebook means sometimes their properties are not in their control."
