Upgrader will not recognize password

I am having trouble up-grading to 5.0.3 The upgrader will not recognize my password. The master password is recognized by the site but not the upgrader. I am sure the correct password is being entered. I need to know how to resolve this problem. I don't want to invest time and energy into something that is broken. I am also having trouble with other parts of OCPortal. When I try to edit a template (the header) from the template tree I get an error message "Request URL too large - The requested URL's length exceeds the capacity limit for this server."
This is a small portion of the URL it is too long to include all of it in this message.
I am hopping that an upgrade will fix the problem with the template tree.
I need some help what should I do? Do I have to start all over with a newer version or can my work be saved and upgraded?
I am at a standstill until I can get this resolved.
Thanks in advance for your help.

On the upgrader login screen is a link to the 'disaster recovery' tutorial you need to read. The master password is not the same thing as your admin account's login password.

Some servers have limits imposed on them but you can access the header template from the Admin Zone instead.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
