Thought I'd point out I discovered a bug while browsing the addons downloads whereby if I clicked a download now link for and addon but then cancelled if I clicked the link again I get a Content encoding error:

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

Just double checked if I say ok instead of cancel I get the download the first time but the page behind it says same error and further clicks of the link only produce error.

Lastly I was testing this feature mostly because I had a question I was trying to answer:

Does ocPortal (the cms itself not the site here) use any method of hotlink protection for its downloads system and if so what sort of methods are employed?

Can't reproduce in latest Firefox. Sounds like a bug in your browser or a connection problem.

There is an option for hot link protection, or you can use an external htaccess referer check rule.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Using FF 3.6.20 on Win7 .Just an FYI

Opera and Safari on same comp do not produce same effect.
