I am considering putting up fairly regular blog posts on:
  • some of the more complex and less discussed areas of business and the web development industry
  • and, particular examples of how ocPortal can effectively deliver business value

My aim is for it all to be accessible (i.e. no technical), but business focused.

Any suggestions are welcome :).

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Community saint

I'm looking forward to read you blogs Chris!

Here is one idea:

I think that an element of concern for a business today is its “Brand” and how easily it can be tarnished, battered and harmed without its owner to even be aware of it through merciless squandering of false or incomplete information across social media like Facebook and Twitter. This is of particular critical importance to the foodservice or catering industry and doubly vital if this industry relies on a limited tourist trade on small Islands like Aruba. But, that’s just one example where a strategy using a CMS like ocPortal can centralize social media and distribute its own videos and images through a strong supportive community nurturing and growing its “Brand”.

Thanks Jean :). That ones a bit out of my forte, maybe one for a social media manager to go for there :).
