I heep getting these odd URLs in the log, so far, primarily for the server's shared IP address. Note that I have short URLs and New-style URLs enabled:

Code

"GET /http://DOMAIN/keymap.htm?wide_print=1&max=1000 HTTP/1.1"
"GET /http://DOMAIN/california_1968-1985.htm HTTP/1.1"
"GET /http://DOMAIN/post_world_war_II-hollywood.htm HTTP/1.1"
"GET /http://DOMAIN/California_1951-1967.htm?wide_print=1&max=1000 HTTP/1.1"
"GET /http://DOMAIN/pre-war_california.htm HTTP/1.1"
"GET /http://DOMAIN/puntarenas_costa_rica.htm HTTP/1.1"
"GET /http://DOMAIN/puntarenas_costa_rica.htm HTTP/1.1"

Any thought on what can be causing this? I suspect to might be related to CloudFlare but can't checlthat right now as it seems CloudLare's app in cPanel is not working in the eLief cPanel.

I noticed I can duplicate 1005 of the time by recommending an article of catalog or gallery entry:

Code

I found "this" on JulianRitterCentral - A community site sharing the life and art of Julian Ritter:
http://DOMAIN/the_early_years.htm

I thought you might be interested.

I'm not sure, but I didn't follow what you meant be "1005 of the time".

I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I still don't quite follow. Are you saying when you recommend an article, you then instantly get server log entries with an anomalous "/" on the start of the URL? One that relates to the URL you were recommending, or a whole batch? Or is it when the sent e-mail itself is opened?

There are other entries with a status of 200 with the same / pattern as part of the URL.

The other issue is that this strange URL is generated sending a recommendation, as shown in the video:

Well deduced, I think you're likely right about the cause there.

This was introduced in the security changes in last patch release and effects people with SEO URLs on.

A v7 fix is attached.

That seems to have fixed the problem with the recommend to friend. I'm sure it will clean up the rest, as well, but I'll keep a watch on it.

Thanks for your help and the quick resolution.

This appears to still be an issue for the "Send image as e-card" option in galleries.
