This hasn't happened before on my site but today I tried to change the 'photo' in my profile with both a .jpg and .png. In my config settings both file types are listed. This only effects user groups other than admin and I can;t seem to track any permissions that are off or anywhere else that this could be being cause by. Has anyone else run into this before?

Please tell us the actual error message ;).

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

This is what I'm getting when I try to upload a new "photo" in my user profile:

I don't know if that helps with what you need Chris but in this instance I tried to upload a .png file. I also get this error when trying to upload .jpeg .jpg and .tiff files but like I said it only happens to user groups without admin access. Admins have no issue uploading pics of any file type.

Could this be a permission error? I've looked in the global permissions but can't find where that is an option.

Thanks.

I've fixed this on your site.

It was actually rather complex. It was related to the Facebook addon picking Facebook image URLs for profiles (which don't look like image URLs), and actually the error was happening for avatars, but triggering when changing photo as both triggered refreshes when an upload happened.

Should be fixed now. I caused a different issue by mistake in my patch.

Youtube is working now too. They recently started giving out https URLs, our example Custom Comcode tag needed a tweak.
