I get 404 when trying to view it.

Besides informing you of the 404 I also wanted to add something:

I know this is probably not the section for ocPortal improvement suggestions but I would like to state that the way you guys set up the DB makes it sure confusing for new developers to get a handle on the system! I feel like I am trying to crack the Davinci Code when I am trying to find where certain info is stored in the DB? lol For instance where the heck are the Group names stored?? Under the group table there is only a number under the group name field and I can't figure out what table holds the actual name?? It is a little frustrating to say the least. I know you guys have your reasons for this complexity but couldn't things be done with a little more simplicity to encourage contributions from others. As is one can easily be discouraged. O_o

A lot of the site text, including group names, is stored in the ocp?_translate table. So if you can't see the text in a given table and only a number, chances are its the id number for the translated text in the ocp?_translate table.

Link fixed.

It's for internationalisation and Comcode. Both of those require much more complexity than a single DB field can hold.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

LOL, what don't you state what it is you are trying do? 9 times out of 10 when you get the answer you need and after your "XXXXXXX" is displaying or calling as it should, you'll slap yourself for being frustrated over for nothing.

I figure the "complicity" keeps the hackers and bots occupied, enough so that they move on to a distant Word Press install somewhere.

I noticed the other day that the API guide was not coming up and figured v8 updating was the issue. Thank for putting it back up. Now I just need to remember and figure out what it was I needed it for.:nerd:
