Ok just a few quick questions regarding the ocPortal. After having successfully installed. Thanks in advance!!! :)

1) I want a certain users to be able to add pages to the website upon request when placed in a certain user group, but without giving them full administrative control to the site, is this possible at all? Say for example I might have an article writer who wants to add a new page about an event, etc.

2) On the homepage of my site, there's this box.
How do I get an RSS feed (say for example one from a news website) to show all the headlines in there?

1- just try using the permission tree editor, should be fairly easy to set in there, by going to the cms\cms_comcode_pages module

2- re-add the block with parameters of your choosing (edit page, add block button)

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks. Another question - how do I get the side navigational menus to display in the same format and layout throughout every page on the site?

On my index page, I have a left menu and a right menu (with calendar/stats etc). I want those menus to appear on every page by default and on article pages, have them hidden, but without having to go through each and every single page and code-in each menu.

The other thing is, catalogues. I have a catalogue which I've decided to use as a business directory. How do I automatically enable it so that users can review companies? At present, it only gives the advert creator the option of enabling reviews, but I don't want to give them the option, I'd prefer to force it to be enabled and not give the advert creator the option.
