Update google maps api to version 3

I was going to implement the google maps block on a site and was going to get a key to load in it when I discovered this message from google and they say you don't need an API code with version 3

So I was wondering if you guys had been working on that and if not maybe I'll tackle it myself and if so can you point me in the right direction to save me time in hunting down which files I'll need to edit. I mean I haven't looked yet and it may be very self explanatory but so far every time I have wanted to look in a file to edit something it's taken me a while to find where I need to be lol so just in case I am asking before I begin.

Awesome thanks so much. I figured someone probably already did it or was working on it that's why I asked before going ahead. Sorry for not searching better though.

I think the existing addon does have all this incorporated, but the description on our site could be out-of-date.
