Hi, I'm using the calendar list to show my upcoming gigs in the right panel of my site.  However when guest visit my site the time is six hours ahead of what it should be.  For example I have an entry for Friday night at 9:00PM, and it shows fine as long as I'm, or anyone else for that matter, is logged in, but if I log out, or a guest visits my site it shows the gig as Saturday 3:00AM.  The time is set correct on the server and is also set to show the right time in the setup/configuration/site options.

Hi,

There's an option, "Enable Guest time-zone detection" (it's under forum and member options).
Please try turning this off.

Let me know if there really is a 6 hour discrepancy from the system clock on your test user's computer, and the time you have the server set at – if not, maybe there's a bug here.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I uncheck the option, but it still shows a six hour time difference.

What happens if you clear the block cache (Admin Zone, Usage, Cleanup Tools)?

Daa.  It does what it suppose to do.  Feeling a little stupid.  Thanks that seems to do it.  I had ran across those clean up tools, but didn't even think to use them after turn the guest opton off.  Thanks.

Actually this is more our fault than yours, it's a bit of a design flaw that it was needed in this case, but something that's on our roadmap to fix.
