Ok so during my Support credits add-on I found this bit in the BLOCK_CREDIT_EXPS.tpl

Code

{$COMCODE,[currency="GBP" bracket="1"]{PRICE}[/currency]}

I am trying to understand where and how that bit of comcode evaluates itself?

I've searched through documentation for 2 hours + but still am clueless (I did find the comcode symbol in tempcode list of symbols but that doesn't help much). I do not know where to look in the code files for the answer (but I have looked).

It is not listed under custom comcode on my site.

I understand that it operates like this:

It prints out the price in users currency (well what is set under cureency=) and then in brackets the price in sites default currency as set in ecommerce config option.

But to fully grasp this and how it works as a part of the system I wanted to look at the code that resolves this somewhere but I don't know where to look.

But understanding this might help with ideas I wish to do.

Is it possible for  anyone to point me to where I need to look or would that be too much time for even chris to figure out easily?

sources/symbols.php basically contains a big switch statement that chooses what code to run for each symbol. Look for:

Code

case 'COMCODE':

This is pretty simple really. There's a symbol, COMCODE, and it evaluates what it is given as Comcode and outputs the result back into the template's output stream.

New symbols may also be added as hooks (this is how an addon would do it). sources_custom/hooks/systems/symbols/.
