How do I put a theme selector?
Like a little drop down box with all the themes in it.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

The system's designed so that members choose skins on the forum, and ocPortal uses an equivalent theme.

The easiest way to do that is to name your ocPortal theme the same thing as an IPB skin's "image directory".

I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Hmm well that will fix one problem but not the color problem.
The Chris from easy Ipb says there is a way for an external page to use the css. I might go looking for that thread.

The only way ocPortal could effectively make use of IPB's CSS was if ocPortal was specifically designed around IPB. As this isn't the case, it's not something we can practically do unfortunately.

I'd advise that you use the Theme Wizard to make a theme with a similar colour to that of your IPB skin, and then make minor changes to either your ocPortal theme, the IPB skin, or both, to get them to fit perfectly.

Ya I can get them to fit but the problem is I have several themes for IPB each one a different color.
What I meant for a future feature of ocportal would be to have a theme drop down menu for those who do not use ocportal's forum, just so members can change them. Sorry for the confusion.

That is kind of possible already actually. If you put "&keep_theme=whatever_the_theme_is_called" onto the end of the URL, ocPortal will use that theme. Any links on the page will automatically include that "keep_theme" stuff.

So all you'd need to do was to put a few links like that into a menu. Or you could put some Comcode like this onto a panel:

Code

[semihtml]
<form method="get" action="{$BASE_URL}/index.php"><div>
<select name="keep_theme">
<option value="some_theme">Some Theme</option>
<option value="another_theme">Another Theme</option>
<option value="lovely_theme">Lovely Theme</option>
</select>
</div></form>
[/semihtml]

I am glad you did post a solution to my problem.
Sorry if I was a pain but I really wanted a drop down menu for my members on the home page. your image idea sort of worked but only for one skin, they change skins and it looks funny.
