I want to know how to add to this.
I need a store and want to use the ocportal points but it only allows you to make email accounts and banners.
I want to add any thing I want like downloads, wallpapers, screen savers, images, maybe even the ability to use a function on the site you have to buy to use like html in titles or much more.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

If you submit a download in the system find this string: Cost

Cost
The point cost of a user using/taking this resource.

Its allmost at the bottom of the page.

I guess a warning in your line of work tends tomean 'run for cover'. Fortunately it's not so severe when it comes to computers ;).

hmm.. Im not sure about that, but i dont use the store either.

If i understand it right you want to put certain HTML codes in the store, which people can buy to use them?

If so, a addon / mod / hack has to be made, if it is even possible at all. Thsi is due that it is incorpated in the system. And thus it woud come to a almost total conversion using a feature like this.

But im sure Alan / Chris / Robbie should be able to shine  a light on this.

As for finding things, i think this is the best setup so far OCP has, the only thing is it just has a different name then almost all other portals / cms's have. Once you get used to this sytem its really easy..

well not quite I have a mod on IPB that allows you to use html in your members title but I do not just want every one to be able to use that feature.
I need to make it so they need to buy it.

I wrote some brief notes about adding a new pointstore item towards the end of this tutorial.
It's a programming task, but if you know how to program, it's pretty easy to do. Unfortunately I don't have time to step through making one at the moment, but I'm sure if you set your mind to it you could learn :). I'm not saying it's quick or easy to learn, but if you're interested, it's certainly something you could try.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
