here are a few suggestions I know others want.
one on the online list have it show where they are and what they are doing like IPB.
I am talking about the link that is under Users Online:
That is some thing I find very useful specially as an admin.

Another thing that I thought recently is allowing a member to be a part of 2 groups which is also a feature of IPB and some thing I find very useful as it gives greater permission settings.
You can have 2 members in the same groups and each person has slightly different permissions based on the second group they are in.
I know this might be able to be done with putting each one is 2 different groups but what if you had a customer group and a helpful member group and each one has different permissions and you wanted to allow the customer to see what the helpful member can see.
Or how I use it on my site is I have game staff and some have access to the admin zone and some do not but they are all in the same group.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

I've already incorporated your first suggestion into my website, Amy. Take a look at the "Users Online" box, just under who is visiting the site, and you'll see a link saying "Viewing what?". I lifted the code from the Forum "Details" and placed it in the box. Does the same thing you want, I believe.

Your other suggestion is way out of my league. I don't use my Forums in that manner, so I haven't even given it any conscious thought.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Are you asking me to make a mod for it?
I was just making suggestions to improve ocf to make it better.
That feature is very handy as I can see what they are doing and even go check out the post it says they were posting.

Thanks for the feedback :).

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
