How should I package my modified ocWorld?

Chris I assume I change the $info array with what some new stuff like hacked_by becomes Troy Moore (me) and hacked version should be what - 1? (right now it is null) and should the version number changed at all? it reads 3 now.

Then when it is done should it be listed as ocworld 1.1 or something in the addons section here so people can choose to use the old one or the new one (in case they don't want my modifications after all it could be a church group who doesn't want their members attack each other somewhere? hehe)

There is a little bit of new functionality (and modified old ones) of course but it is all code. I did not change the database at all. Really I think I only changed 4 files:

sources_custom/ocworld.php
ocworld/pages/ocworld.php
lang/en/ocworld.ini
themes/default/custom_templates/W_MAIN_SCREEN.tpl

We can either go through the hacked-field and uploading as your own version, or incrementing the main version number and making you a maintainer.

If hacked-field is raised, main version number should not be.

If you want to be the maintainer, you'll need to install git, get a github account, and I can then grant you commit access.

As a hobbyist software developer, I know how hard it is to committing to being a project maintainer when you don't have much free time. So if Duck decides to go for the gold and maintain ocWorld, it will be much appreciated by me as i have this addon installed and slowly developing a few realms.

I may consider maintaining. Can't decide right now too much to deal with this week ( see http://ocportal.com/forum/topicview/findpost/84107.htm for explanation

I will likely do the github maintainer thing but once I finish the code clean up I'll just package a zip and attach it to the Addon Thread first so I can get a couple test runs from active users before we start doing commits.

I do have some grand ideas for further improvement to it but I also have grand ideas for other modules to ocPortal that are probably better served first so I can't guarantee I will find the time to persue those major improvements to ocWorld but helping to maintain it's current level or produce small changes I would be happy to do. Who knows though it is a nice starting ground to play in to start learning ocPortal development.

It's so great that you are considering becoming a committer and that you are considering taking on other projects. This is what makes a community and you are showing another way for people to give back to that community.
