I'm not sure about the "Install ocPortal" link - I've never seen that before.

The "switch user" box is controlled by the "Assume the identity/access of any other member" on a per-group basis in Security->Global privileges:Staff actions. However, it will always be visible to admin users and that is a good thing as it allows you to quickly view a page as a member of a different user group.

I think "install ocPortal" was installed by not so simple scripts...since the link goes to their site. Uncool.

So now, I am doing a manual install. Need 2 sites with ocPortal and I don't want their junk in my trunk.

Thanks for your replay. It's NOT a "good thing" if I don't want it there. Can I get rid of it?

You can remove it for everyone but admin users using the Global privileges.

If you want to completely remove it, you can hack at the code. But then when a site member tells you that such-and-such appears on his screen, you will need to log in to his account (or one with the same usergroup) to see what he's talking about. With the SU feature, you could just type in his member name while logged in as admin and see exactly what he is commenting on.

Adminzone >> Setup >> Configuration >> Block options >> Personal block (untick SU)

This option is only available and visible to Admin so that the site can be administered the way BobS has explained.

I am wondering why you would wish to cripple any Admin 'tools' in exchange for a dubious advantage in 'display', especially as none of your members will get to see that box in any case.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

"Install ocPortal" is a link to simple scripts dot com. I used their script to install ocPortal and it must populate it upon completion of install. I have since deleted that install and used the auto install hosted here without issue (great job!).

Please post a screen shot of that. If you are seeing the SU box as a guest, then there is something alarmingly wrong with my setup.

This is what I see when I 'check' it …

Thanks.
