Hi!

I've been having soo many problems.

Here's two:

Earlier on, I couldn't access my site because I got a critical error saying that the server load was high and it's not allowing me access "Please try again later".

I check it now, and ocPortal says:

  • Activity:
  • Community:
  • Chat system:
  • Galleries:
  • Quizzes:
  • News:

How can the amount of max hits be that much when no one has signed up this wasn't showing like this yesterday, either there's a malfunction or it's true.

The Occle command prompt doesn't seem to be functioning with basic commands such as users_online here's the error.

PHP NOTICE [8] Undefined offset: 3 in sources/occle.php on line 954

Error: There was an error evaluating the PHP you supplied (or it returned false as part of its normal execution).

Can someone help sort some of these problems out?

This OcCLE error is similar to the forum one you got – my fault for not properly testing how the code responds when limits are exceeded. I'll fix.

You may be getting flooded by bots. I'd try looking at other stats, e.g. what your hosting control panel provides.

Or, if you set the "user online time" / session length option (can't remember it's name off hand) to a really big number.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Departing assumption time is 5 minutes.

My site isn't very well known, why would it suddenly have thousands of bots coming to it?

I normally get 5 guests (bots)
all the time….

No idea… you could take a look in the sessions table in the database and see what's in there. If it looks like a bug (e.g. lots of sessions with your own IP address) please send an SQL dump of the table to chris@ocportal.com.

There's only 145 session logs….

Strange, there's probably a bug.

How do I get a SQl dump?

side_stats block has a cache lifetime of 15 mins, it might be the spike of users had already gone.

You can't produce an SQL dump inside ocPortal. From phpMyAdmin, go to the table, and click the 'Export' "tab".
