I think the gallery is an important part of a lot of websites, it is for me anyways. Although ocPortal has a good gallery system it still has a few things that need work and some important features missing.

At first I was going to just use Gallery2 ported as a minimodule (I actually did it and it was suprisingly easy). But then I thought better of it. I really love ocPortal and would rather try to help improve on ocPortals own gallery/features.

What I would like to improve upon the most is the slide show. When a slide show is running you have to scroll down to see each new picture when it appears. I would like to replace it with a full screen slideshow….or at least put the picture at the top of the screen and everything else under it so there is no scrolling to see the image.

Just figured I would share my intentions this time and make sure it's not already in the works. The last time I was working hard at something it turned out you guys were too. I was getting close but was to slow and you guys released it as an addon before I was done . I was happy to see it but also disapointed. I was looking forward to adding my first signifigant contribution.

You'll want to move {NAV} down in GALLERY_ENTRY_SCREEN.tpl.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
