Hi,
I was looking to find a way to find out, via php, wether the user that is watching the page has a certain usergroup or not. Is there any way to check this?

See if a group ID is in…

Code

$GLOBALS['FORUM_DRIVER']->get_members_groups($member_id)

IIRC

I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Ok, nice hint, i was already browing thrrough the GLOBALS (btw, isnt it a security hole that it lists all database information in plain text?) but i dont find the place where i can find "my" user id. I just want to check, in the end, if the user who is watching the page is part of the staff (hence in one of 3 usergroups) or not to toggle various options..

If you could read the memory of what PHP has in it, that'd be a security hole - but you can't ;). Computers have passwords sitting around in RAM all the time, hence one of the reason why OS's have memory protection :).

get_member() gets the member ID. You might want to check the API docs which are linked from our support page.
