Altering Primary usergroup with one click

Hi

I'm experimenting with ocPortal and would like to use it as long as I can figure out a few things.  My site uses the Simple Machines forum with quite a few alterations as it has both censored and uncensored adult boards.  I implemented a drop down menu that users simple clicked upon to change their primary group instantly and also refreshed the screen so the forums altered to suit - it worked perfectly.  For me to be able to implement it on ocPortal I would need to be able to figure out a users m_primary_group so I could then create either a link or another drop down menu.  Any idea how I would go about this to help me on my way?  Once I become familiar with ocPortal code alterations should become easier for me.

Regards

Mark

It seems to me it would be advantageous to run 2 sites with shared membership and forum but restricting access to certain boards on each.  The only way I can see to achieve this is through usergroups.  Is there a way to force all members on one site to be in one usergroup on login?  Also is it possible that login / out on one site enables login / out on the other if they are in subcategories, or even domain and subdomain?

I have already rigged up 2 sites and experimenting with the settings.  Both are using the OCF forum after I had imported all from the SMF forum.  Just a matter of showing different boards on each and making login / out combined.
