Well-settled

Greetings,

I don't recall seeing this is the documenation, but I would like to know if you could have, for example, OCF to have it's on summary domain such as "forum.yourdomain.com". I know you can do it on cPanel or any other server user control panel, and just find the directory, but is there a way to have ocPortal recognize and use it whether the old path. I would also like to know this for other zones issuing maybe a add-on domain.

Hi,

See point '13' in:
http://ocportal.com/forum/pg/topicview/misc/7178/index.php&kfs266=0

Basically, point the subdomain to exactly the same place your domain points to (NOT the 'forum' directory). Then add in the extra code to the info.php that tells ocPortal to recognise requests on that domain as existing in the 'forum' zone. ocPortal will also create it's links to anything in the 'forum' zone so that they use the subdomain.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
