I am having a problem with 3.0.16.
Its a new install and I was running the setup wizard and I hit next and it asked me to long in again so I did.
Then it took be back to the main admin page so I hit back to the wizard so I did not have to redo all the work.
Ok it went to the next page after 3 or so log in and then it did the same thing on the next page all the way to the close site part of the wizard and after 10 login attemps it did not want to stay logged in so I thought screw it I will just open it up manually and I go to the settings and find that none of the changes I made while in the wizard saved.
I was like O noes that was 20 minutes of work.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

I am not sure what could be causing that to be honest. If it were constantly returning to the login screen I'd say the cookies weren't saving, but from your description it looks like it loads one page before requiring a new login. The ocPortal login code hasn't been altered for a long time now (in other words, it's stable), so I think there must be some kind of configuration problem somewhere – either on the web browser, ocPortal, or in the server itself – but unfortunately I can't think what it could be at this point. Have you changed browser version, any settings, or installed any extensions recently? Just in case, you might want to check that the site hasn't made its way onto your cookie blocklist.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Well I got it to work after first logging into IPB 2.2 final which came out the other day.

After first logging into IPB and going back to the wizard it worked fine.
It might be some thing with the new IPB. From my tests you have to be logged into IPB first then run the installer for ocPortal and then when the wizard comes up it works fine. But also during my tests when your not logged into IPB first and installed ocPortal and try and run the wizard the above happens.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.
