I made a zone 'members blogs' and planed to put all the member blog stuff there.   As we know, blogs are really 'news'.   And news seems to be attached to the welcome zone.   My new zone doesn't use a right sidebar.  But when you click on a members blog to read more, it goes back to having a right sidebar.

So it must be going back to the welcome zone to do that.

My question is do I need to copy all the 'pages'  stuff for news to the new zone in order to use it there and not have it go back to a zone with the right side bar?

I read in the zone tree editor that it is not recomended to move branches.   So I am a bit confused on how to go about this one.

Thanks
Paul

easy to solve, just go to admin zone > structure > redirects, and use transparent redirects to make the news module also run in your blogs zone

blogs:news -> site:news

ocPortal will search for modules in almost all cases, with a preference on the zone you're already in.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
