When a member tries to embed a yuotube video using youtube tag, a white square is displayed instead of video player.

Used syntax is:

Code

[youtube]URL[/youtube]

Am I missing something?

As far as I'm aware ocPortal does not have a youtube tag? Where did you get the comcode for that youtube tag?

Also, do you have a specific example we can test.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

Hi temp1024,

I didn't add anything actually. Every core ocPortal installation (v7.1.5) should have youtube tag by default following comcode tags userguide (e.g. Help: Comcode – Femina Portal)

Also, if the tag doesn't exist on the system a user would be noticed during the posting, as far as I know.

Here is the member's post:  View topic: Shakira's voice – Femina Portal

Ah, OK. I wasn't aware they added it as standard. I'm using v7.0.1 and it wasn't included by default at that point.
The reason that one doesn't work is that there is no video id.  In the URL:

Code

value="http://www.youtube.com/v/<?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US
there should be a video id in place of <.

Yes, indeed, this is the problem. But this exists only during displaying the forum post.

The post edit screen still has a valid code:

Code

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YSrIFKsyfU[/youtube]
From some reason a video id is not rendered back (in this case 9YSrIFKsyfU).

That's a strange one. The edit code looks perfectly fine to me.

As I don't have the 'standard' version of the youtube tag (I created my own) I can't do any more testing / investigation.

My initial thought was that the user may have accidentally used the youtube embed code instead of just the URL, but that's clearly not the case here.

I'm not sure about why this is happening. Probably either the WYSIWYG editor is masking some code inside the Youtube tag that it does not like, or the Youtube custom comcode tag is borked.

Here is an updated version of the youtube tag's replacement code that strips HTML tags that the WYSIWYG editor may have placed:

Code

{$SET,VIDEO,{$PREG_REPLACE,(http://.*\?v=)?(http://youtu.be/)?([\w\-]+)(.*)?,$\{3\},{$STRIP_TAGS,{content}}}}<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/{$GET*,VIDEO}?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/{$GET*,VIDEO}?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Guys,

Thank you.

Chris,

Sorry for taking your time.

But the reason was that /sources/hooks/systems/video_embed folder was empty (?!) Somehow, youtube and facebook video files were not installed.

I didn't change nor restored anything in the meantime, but I'll check my log files to see what could happen.

No, that's unrelated. It installs via this, but it's not needed subsequently outside the galleries addon.

Well, I uploaded the files, edited the post (saved it again) and the video works now.

Note: I didn't insert your code from the previous post.

I have the same thing happening at times.   If the user uses the whole youtube.com  / watch  line, you get a white box.

If they use the youtu.be /  with just the ID, it works.

It seems the problem with the full one, is the WYSIWYG editor is converting the url into a tag… and that tag is not properly processed by the youtube comcode processing.
