Hello forum users,

I just wanted to post this so that you know we're aware that there seem to be some WYSIWYG editing problems (posts that came from the WYSIWYG editor looking corrupted). These will be investigated tomorrow and if this is a problem in a released version of ocPortal, bug fixes will be logged in our database.

EDIT: Due to a large volume of support requests today, this has been delayed until Friday.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I guess a warning in your line of work tends tomean 'run for cover'. Fortunately it's not so severe when it comes to computers ;).

ya I had it happen to me when I was editing a post. I thought it was just firefox and my xandros OS.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

In some zones the editor dipslays the emoticon when first added as a graphic and in others such as forums it does not.

Sometimes it displays the ascii code symbol for the emoticon such as in the quick reply box whereas in forum posts it displays nothing until you review the post.

It always displays the graphic correctly of the clicked / added emoticon after you view the post.

Is this what it is supposed to do?  :'(

Yes I'm afraid so. Whether you see a graphical  display of what you're doing or not depends on whether the WYSIWYG editor is loaded or not. As the WYSIWYG editor is pretty huge, it wouldn't be appropriate to load it up every time a topic is viewed.

It does work better then the rich editor on IPB, that one does not work with opera at all. It will not display.

A lot has been fixed in the editor today. If there are further problems we'll consider them on a case by case basis.

As this is now sorted, and a new release imminent, this topic will be uncascaded and moved.

Hi,

Where can we get the latest buggy patch for this since you mentioned a lot have been fixed today? I've checked the Admin Zone's list. There's a WYSIWYG entry but no codes or file downloads.

Yes. The problems fixed were beyond the scope of simply "replace this line with this line", and so they have only been incorporated into the next patch release.

Hi Chris,

I cannot seem to find the download for 3.0.7. Can i assume that all of the patches for 3.0.6 will be done when I update to 3.0.7??

Hi Chris,

My admin page still states 3.0.6 is the latest version. Even when I click on it bugs list. I still don't get the option to download the patch.

PS: I still see the 3.0.6 patches list increasing.

I apologise that the update system was slightly misconfigured for this release - this is now corrected.
