Hi,

Looks like some V3 comcode doesn't work with V4.

Is there a tutorial somewhere, or a post with some explanations on the changes?
(On a fresh install, you get some guidelines from the initial layout, but when upgrading… hard luck).

wysiwyg editor still not working, eats parameters, adds spaces or line breaks (or both), and messes up all accents.
Spent all afternoon trying to have a 2 column layout on start page, no way.
Ended up doing it with html frames. It works. But it's a bit silly having all this available and still putting plain html on line…

Whoever has the comcode for a standard start up page, V4, 2 columns, has won him(her)self a new friend

Thx  ;)

Hi,

This is from the default 'start' Comcode page…

Code

[semihtml]
<div class="float_surrounder">
<div style="width: 48%; float: left">[block]main_content[/block]</div>
<div style="width: 48%; float: right">[block]main_poll[/block]</div>
</div>
[/semihtml]

The key thing is that "float_passer" no longer works, and now you need to put a "float_surrounder" around things.

(I'll talk about WYSIWYG in a separate post)

I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Does the WYSIWYG editor work on this site? I made the above post by pasting in some french accents and also the long line of diacritic characters from the first paragraph of here:
Breve - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you can provide any precise failure cases, preferably for this site, but for your own if necessary, I'd be very pleased to get them sorted out. Something that reads like: "Go to this site, copy and paste this segment, click preview - see that the text in the editor has now corrupted with some symbols double up." I'd then try and reproduce them and hopefully see the problem immediately, but otherwise try and dig deeper.

Currently I'm not aware of any WYSIWYG bugs but it's not that I don't believe you, different configurations, data sources, keyboards, operating systems, and ways of using the editor, could all potentially be factors.

Quick example (just saw it) of what originally was an email link:

Code

Renseignements et suggestions : <a title="ici" target="_top" href="http://club31480.com/cms/m&amp;#97;&amp;#x69;&amp;#108;&amp;#x74;&amp;#111;&amp;#x3a;&amp;#100;&amp;#x61;&amp;#110;&amp;#x69;&amp;#101;&amp;#x6c;&amp;#64;&amp;#x62;&amp;#111;&amp;#x65;&amp;#117;&amp;#x66;&amp;#100;&amp;#x61;&amp;#110;&amp;#x74;&amp;#97;&amp;#x6e;&amp;#46;&amp;#x63;&amp;#111;&amp;#x6d;&amp;#63;&amp;#x73;&amp;#117;&amp;#x62;&amp;#106;&amp;#x65;&amp;#99;&amp;#x74;&amp;#61;&amp;#x6c;&amp;#111;&amp;#x67;&amp;#111;" rel="">ici</a> [/box]</span><br />
First time, this was ok and worked.
Got messed up turning wysiwyg on and of, and switching to "show source" (<> button, top left of editor)

Type your thing with wysiwyg enabled.
Disable wysiwig, this is what you get.

Will this work with 4.2.* as well?

Thanks.

Yes. The change from v3 to v4 was due to a fundamental shift to our CSS layout approach, and that is very unlikely to happen again.

Cool thanks Chris.
I remember the old way and some times you had to put that tag thing in more then once to get things to lay out correctly with the new way you do not have to do that.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

This one likely isn't a bug. The HTML will be significantly adjusted for what ocPortal sees as better presented Comcode. However, in theory, the actual way it is rendered should be the same. (In HTML most white-space doesn't do anything).

What it actually adds is the non breakable space code, and it does change presentation.
But that's not really important, just makes you delete them every time you have to edit the page.
