Has anyone tried ocPortal with WoWbb yet?  Has the new upgrade to ocPortal caused any conflits?  I'd think not, but I'm going to post about the new version of ocPortal over at the WoWbb forums and I wanted to make sure.

All the best!

No one?   :(

Actually, is the WoWbb driver still supported in version 3?

Hi. WowBB is definitely still there and supported :). Because no one has given you a definitive answer until now, I've just tested installation against WowBB, and all seems fine. If there did turn out to be any new problems, we'd certainly fix them!

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.  Great!  Although my main site–ThePoliticalVoice–is going to transition to using ocPortal's forum from now on, I'd still like to have the option.

Thanks, I'll let the WoWbb people know!

I am looking into using ocPortal for my WowBB site.

What url will my "portal" use? The one now I am using for my forums? What will happen to my forums?

Hi,

The normal course of action is for your forums to stay where they are, and ocPortal to either be installed in the directory above them, or in a directory alongside them, perhaps called "portal".

Your forums will be unchanged by the ocPortal installation, and will only be linked to. :)

I get this message:

The installer has succesfully been copied. Now you must launch the install.php script to proceed through it. The installer will ask you for some details, including those for a mySQL database you should create, and FTP details.

I then hit proceed and get

WowBB Already Installed

Then nothing, what should I do?

I presume you're using out copy-to-hosting service, and I would guess that install.php already existed, and that it's the WowBB installer. Try renaming the WowBB install.php to something else before putting our installer up there.

Ok. Thanks. I have it all up and running, I just have to add features and set it up. Seems pretty straight forward.  Is there a tutorial to add games somewhere? Similar type of games Political Voice has on his site?

I haven't looked at the docs lately, but if there isn't a tutorial for that, or if you need help with something just give me a jingle and I'll try to help.  Just try to be patient as I'm trying to juggle a few projects at the moment, but I'd like to help if I can.

All the best!

Thanks :) Whenever you have time just shoot the info to me. No rush. I would appreciate it. I downloaded a few I want and I can not find a tutorial on it.

Thanks.
