Hi,

I'm a bit lost by this message I'm afraid.

No official installers of ours should have anything to do with Wordpress. I'm not sure if you're got an archive mixed up somewhere, or if one of the third party installers of ocPortal out there has mixed something up (e.g. Softaculous), or if Wordpress was already installed somewhere and for some reason ocPortal won't replace it. I just checked our quick installer and manual installer links and they seemed to download the expected ocPortal archives.

We don't normally do phone support due to timezone differences etc. Priority support can be done through the ticket system though, if you open a day/high/emergency priority ticket and had credits (I do remember you!, and I believe your original account did have some credits left) we would try and respond to that as quickly as possible.

This next week will be difficult however, as I am personally booked for the whole next week. I can't really do any actual projects or installations until the week end, only reply to important questions and issues.

I think you are saying you have a client, who is an attorney in India, and you are having trouble getting ocPortal installed for them.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

The wordpress installed somewhere else thing doesn't even sound possible to me since I have control of the name servers.  What I'm saying is that you are right, the files I downloaded or had sent straight to the server from here are in the folder and it redirects me to thedomain/install.php but the page says MyNewWebsite… "Just another wordpress website".  I'm just wondering if you have created this thing from scratch or if it's white labeled?  It seems like a lot of the language files have a different dialect than I get from you.  I'm basically asking here if ocPortal is allowed to be ran on a .in domain?  I love this software and it just installed fine on a .com yesturday but today it did the what honestly looks really sketchy wordpress thing when I tried to install it on the lawyers page that I'm building.  I have control of the hosting and everything else, it's even my domain.  What I'm trying now is just loading the zipped files.

ocPortal has no association with Wordpress or any other CMS, it's roughly 99% implemented from scratch (just a few libraries we've used in a few places, hardly noticeable, e.g. CSS minification). There are no installation restrictions, basically you can do whatever you want as long as you don't start distributing it to other people without it having us as primary credit.

Yeah I better say asap that I did just check if the pre unzipped package worked and it doesn't either.  Therefore it has to be something on my end.  I even tried a hello world and still got the wordpress.  Wow, how I just wasted 3 hours.  The registrar says the nameservers are what they're supposed to be and the hosting provider says the domain is ready.  I'm lost but I'll figure it out.  Chris while I'm here I'm going to have to compliment you again on such drastic accessibility concentration.  Feel free to quote this blind guy as well.  OcPortal is the tip top in my eyes and keeps getting better.  Good job man.  Thanks for the quick responses.  I'll come back and post a link when I get everything figured out.  Thanks again, and yes please do look out for that ticket within the next week or so, but I'd really like a few minutes on the phone if it's cool.  I can work on your time if you can work it in.
